The thumb pick blade is to short. You need the thumb pick blade to match the arc your thumb moves natural above the strings.
When I started playing a steel playing friend said you want a short thumb pick, I had trouble some time hitting desired string with thumb pick. I was in a music store they had some long blade thumb picks. I bought 2, Figured I could shorten them if needed, Urika just what I needed. With much ware a thumb pick gets retired to go fish bag.

Not for me! I've been using stubby thumb picks like that for years. Longer blades just don't work for me.
