Seriously, I'd like to know what y'all think would be the best sounding amps for a Steel Guitar? Thanks for your thoughts

In the past, for years in fact I used a giant Session 500 (Peavey) with a 1501 Black Widow speaker....

My ears may differ with many, but I tried the much smaller Peavey 112 (the 80 watt version with Eminence 12" speaker).... never was happy with the midrange tone.

Finally I switched to Quilter products, first the Steelaire, then the Tone Block 202 with the TT 115 cab. These sounded good and certainly were more portable than the Session 500.

With all that said, I currently have on order a Milkman Sound "new" "Half and Half". This is a small tube driven pre-amp, into a 300 watt class D (solid state, very light) power amp. I ordered a Neodyne 15" speaker with it. When it comes next month, I'll be glad to give it a review.

Hope this helps, remember.... what is a great amp to some, others with not like... so my advice, try before you buy. If you can do a live gig before a purchase, perfect!
